If I had to describe in 2012 Brave standardThe very last semester I would use is “party game”. In fact, the Nintendo 3DS RPG is the Anti Party game. It is a long, winding adventure that requires an enormous amount of patience to get through. So it was a little surprise when the first thought that I had after the demo had an upcoming Switch 2 version. Brave standard: Flying Fairy HD Remasteris that it really sells the party statement from Nintendo’s new console.
This is not because the RPG has changed in any way. It has more to do with its new page content. During a hand-on demo, I tried the two new mini-games of the remaster that are available as a bonus from the main menu. Both are designed in such a way that they use the mouse controls of the Switch 2 in an incredibly clever way, which caused me to see even more to see what developers can do with the unique two Joy-Con scheme.
I only had a short time to try the remaster, so I decided to jump directly into the new content than to jump into the main game. However, if you are curious, you can expect a straight remaster than a remake with a large restriction. Everything was revised to compress the two-screen game to one. Otherwise you will usually receive smooth images that clean up the jagged edges of the 3DS. That brings much more in harmony with 2021s Bravely Standard 2.
But enough of it: let’s talk about mini -games. The first I tried was a music game that was about mouse controls. Here I didn’t just press keys on Beat next to music from the game. Bubbles came forward and I had to burst her more or less at the right time by pushing my two controllers around. One line linked my hands on the screen and I had to make sure that she cuts the blisters to pop it at the right moment. When colorful flowers appeared on the screen, I had to push my corresponding Joy-Con to him and hold the trigger to hit the beat. And if a line appeared on the screen, I would have to pull my two controllers into the middle to meet the beat properly.
All of this felt like a great mini -game from the Mario party. I had to move my hands carefully because the mouse controls of the Switch 2 are remarkably precise. A wrong step and I would risk sliding a hand too far up, which gives the border between my pointers a bladder. It is a clever shoot in a traditional rhythm game that enables a refreshing little distraction from a dense role -playing game.
The second mini game, Ringabel’s Panic Cruise, gets even more kilometers from the mouse controls. Here I had to control my airship through a number of rings. Simply enough. I checked the ship from a cockpit view, heading for a bike and rising a lever. I was able to control everyone independently with my mice and push them around to control the ship properly. This task is complicated by the fact that my crew occasionally asks me to manage the ship with a control panel to manage my bike. At some point I have to replace a fuse by grapping one from the side of the screen and replacing a dead one. Later I am asked to ensure that some switches work, weigh a certain number on a panel and take a flywatter to ward off some annoying flies – maybe a little homage to Mario Paint. Of course I have to do all of this while I guide the ship.

It’s a bit like a single player version of Spaceteam Combined with Wii u hidden gemstone Affordable space adventure. It is a juggling act in which I perform two or three things at the same time and create a comedic chaos when I hurried to do a task and quickly control the ship directly. It’s just a small side game, but it is one that really sells me how much creativity developers from a control scheme with two mouse could pull if they are ready to experiment.
I particularly want to see that this pays off in party games. At the end of my demo I asked if I could try to play the rhythm game with two players who run a set of Joy-Cons. I packed the left and a friend checked the right one. We both had to work together to position our mice when we tried a song in hard mode, a difficulty that increases the request that is quickly displayed on the screen. It was about as silly as they could imagine when we both tried to rework each other when the other was not in position.
I hope that the energy will pass into series like Warioware, because in these two mini-games there is a real co-op party statement. I would like to see experimental games in the vein Snipper On Switch 2 at the beginning of his lifespan, we show us exactly what the platform can do that no other can. Until then, Brave standard: Flying Fairy HD Remaster Is used as a small starter on a beloved RPG. These small games may not be sufficient in themselves to take up the double dip, but there is fun on the starting day that hums your imagination early.
Brave standard: Flying Fairy HD Remaster Starts on June 5 for Nintendo Switch 2.
