While many expressed outrage at Jonathan’s behavior, his father Ed Ross spoke out and claimed he couldn’t be more “proud” of his son.
“She hit him,” said Jonathan’s 80-year-old father from North Perkin, Illinois Daily Mail.
“He also had an officer whose arm was in the car. He is not charged with anything,” he added.

Jonathan’s name is Jon and he is married to a 38-year-old woman whose parents are Filipino.
His father described him as a devout Christian and a committed family man.
“You would never find a nicer, friendlier person,” Ed said of his Jon. “He’s a committed, conservative Christian, a great father, a great husband. I couldn’t be prouder of him.”
The father said Jon’s wife is a U.S. citizen, but did not say how long she had been in the country.
“I don’t want to go any further,” he told the outlet.

It is believed that Jon married his Asian wife in 2012 and her parents are doctors living in the Philippines.
The Iraqi war veteran has lived on the outskirts of Minneapolis since 2015 and serves on the special operations team in ICE’s enforcement and clearance operations.
“The wife is polite, very nice, very outgoing, while he is very reserved. They have a few children,” said a resident of his 10-house cul-de-sac.

The neighbor described Jon as a staunch MAGA supporter whose property often featured far-right symbols.
Pro-Trump flags and the Gadsden “Don’t Tread on Me” flag, commonly associated with far-right political movements, recently flew on his property.
“I think he’s in the military. He has a military license plate,” the neighbor said. “He had a Don’t Tread on Me flag and Trump/Vance stickers posted during the election.”

Although officials tried to keep the ICE agent’s identity secret, they did mention that he was seriously injured in an incident with a male immigrant in June.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi L. Noem said they would “not release the name of this officer,” but noted that he was dragged by a vehicle and injured in a June 17 incident.
Records revealed that Jon was part of the team that confronted an undocumented immigrant and attempted to open the vehicle door during the encounter. But the immigrant sped away, dragging Jon with him.

In a statement following Renee’s death, Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said the officer who fatally beat her was part of a June 17 operation targeting an undocumented immigrant convicted in 2023 of sexually assaulting a minor.
Tricia said Jon suffered “abrasions all over his body” and required dozens of stitches after the encounter with the immigrant named Roberto Carlos Muñoz.
“You see that when you make split-second decisions like this,” she said on Thursday. “You can understand why he had to fear for his life.”

Renee had recently moved to Minneapolis with her wife and was fatally shot just a few blocks from their home.
On the day of her death, Renee’s bloodied wife was seen standing next to her crashed car, sobbing and blaming herself for “coming down here.”
“You just screwed my wife,” she was heard saying. “…They shit on her head. I have a 6 year old kid in school.”
Renee was previously married to Timmy Ray Macklin Jr. and had a now six-year-old son with him.
Timmy passed away in 2023 at the age of 36.
“I suggest we send them back to the Philippines. And take him with us,” one commented online, “…deport his wife.”
